Penta is your new WWE Intercontinental Champion, capturing the title from Dominik Mysterio on this week’s episode of WWE Raw. Monday night’s show saw Mysterio put the title on the line against Penta. The match came just after Mysterio was cursed by Danhausen in a backstage segment after Dom was rude to the Very Nice, Very Evil superstar.
The match went 10 minutes and as it was coming to a close, Penta went into the ring post. Mysterio told JD McDonagh to get the bell hammer while the referee was chekcing on Penta, but Finn Balor cut McDonagh off and said Mysterio should do this by himself. Penta then dove onto Balor and McDonagh and came into the ring. Mysterio dodged a Mexican Destroyer but missed a 619, leading to a successful Destroyer and a pinfall for the title. You can see highlights from the match below.
The victory marks Penta’s first title reign in WWE after several attempts to win the Intercontinental Championship. He ends Mysterio’s reign aty 93 days. Mysterio won the title at Survivor Series: WarGames in November, defeating John Cena with help from Liv Morgan.
