Rey Fenix was able to hold onto his AAA World Cruiserweight Championship despite the best efforts of Ricky Saints on this week’s WWE Smackdown. Saints challenged Fenix for the title on Friday night’s show, an almost 12 minute match that ended with Fenix retaining his championship.
Saints and Fenix started the match off with some strikes before Fenix went to his aerial offense, taking out Saints with a suicide dive before hitting a crossbody in the ring. The challenger came back, sending Fenix out of the ring and sending him over the announce table.
The two battled back into the ring and traded momentum, each getting nearfalls throughout. The finish came when Fenix countered a DDT and hit a Mexican Muscle Buster for the win.
You can see a clip from the WWE Smackdown match below. Fenix has held the championship for 154, winning it from Laredo Kid at AAA Noche de Los Grandes in May.
