Rey Mysterio reportedly suffered an injury during his match with Austin Theory on this week’s WWE Raw. As noted, Mysterio battled Austin Theory on Monday’s show, a match that Theory won after interference from The Vision. After the match, the group beat down Mysterio, Penta, and Dragon Lee.
According to Bodyslam’s Cory Hays, Mysterio suffered a legit injury during the bout and had to be taken to the back by medical personnel. There’s no word on the nature, extent, or severity of the injury at this time. The last move that he took was a stomp by Theory for the pinfall victory. Mysterio was kept mostly absent from the post-match attack, with Penta taking a spear that Mysterio was initially set up for.
Mysterio was scheduled to be part of the men’s Rumble match at the WWE Royal Rumble this Saturday. It is not immediately clear whether Mysterio’s injury is severe enough that it will impact his availability. WWE is set to fly out to Saudi Arabia shortly from Raw for the Rumble, which airs live Saturday morning from Riyadh on the ESPN App domestically and Netflix internationally.
On behalf of 411, our best wishes to Mysterio for a quick and full recovery.
