As previously reported, reigning WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley was sidelined with an undisclosed injury, causing changes to matchups at WWE Night of Champions and SummerSlam next month. While appearing at last night’s Power Slap 21 event, held at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nevada, Ripley revealed that she’s dealing with a slight tear in her meniscus.
Ripley spoke to Nina Drama during the event, revealing she’s dealing with a torn meniscus injury. She said, “I hurt my knee, yeeah. I got a slight tear in my meniscus, so it’s just healing. It’s getting there. It’s getting stronger. I just can’t bend it very well. I kinda need it to bend, guys.”
When Drama asked about her recovery time, Ripley stated, “I don’t know. I tore it in a really weird spot, so it’s kind of like a little bit up in the air with just how fast my body recovers, but I’ve been out just over a month now. I think it’s been a month and one week.” She added, “It feels better, it starts to hurt and throb and gets tired, and like, I can’t get up or bend down really slow or like kind of move side to side while crouching. So, it gets stuck. We’ll see how it goes.”
Ripley attended the Power Slap event with her husband, AEW wrestler Buddy Matthews. You can view clips of Ripley addressing her injury at the event, and Ripley with Matthews at the show below:
