Ricochet Says Tony Khan Allows Him To Express His “Creative Views”

Ricochet recently opened up about AEW’s working environment, led by President and CEO Tony Khan, and how that has helped him develop his heel persona. Ricochet is the reigning AEW National Champion. He joined the Tony Khan-led company in the summer of 2024 and has since established himself as a heel.

In a recent appearance on The Mega Powers Podcast, Ricochet spoke on developing his heel persona over the past year or so, stating that Tony Khan has allowed him to express his creative views. He further said that several people backstage have come up with ideas that have helped him develop his character, highlighting the working environment in the company.

“I don’t know. I guess Tony [Khan]. I mean, I guess, Tony. He’s the one that [SIC] runs everything, so he’s the one that allows everything. I mean, yeah, he’s the one that’s just allowed me to express my own creative views, and for the most part, thankfully, he’s liked everything that I have pitched or whatever, gave my opinion on something even. Because, again, I’m a guy—give me some direction, [and] we’ll execute it. We’ll work together along the way to make it, whatever, but give me direction, and we’ll execute it. Of course, I’ll pitch stuff whenever I think of something, ‘Oh, maybe like this.’ But for the most part, tell me what to do, and he’s just been great at letting me get my own two cents.

“But I’ve had a lot of people; it’s not just been me—a lot of people have been like, ‘You should do this,’ or, ‘You should try that,’ and blah, blah, blah. Like, ‘Oh, this is great,’ and I take from everybody, you know what I’m saying? So I’ve gotten real thankful. So it’s kind of been like a collaborative thing to help, you know. Again, it’s whatever’s good for the show. We’re trying to just make the show better. No one’s trying to go out for themselves. Everyone’s trying to make the show the best the show can be,” Ricochet said.

Ricochet recently competed in the Dynamite Diamond Ring Battle Royal and ended up as one of the two final competitors, alongside Bandido.
