Rob Terry Says Hulk Hogan Helped Him Get US Residency Status
– Wrestlezone Daily recently interviewed former TNA star Rob Terry. Below are some highlights and an audio clip of the interview.
Terry on Hulk Hogan and TNA helping him get US residency status: “That was a huge deal for me. Since I came over and when I started with the WWE and I was in the development system with those guys. I was pretty much on a visa and, you know, you’ve gotta go back and you’ve got to renew it and stuff like that. I think today some of the guys in the WWE they do this sort of residency thing for them. At Impact Wrestling, they were great, they did my Visa all the time but never the green card and residency and citizenship and so on and so forth. It was a huge task for me and my wife is from Wales as well in the United Kingdom. It was a nightmare to be honest with you. It was two years, a lot of headaches and very expensive. Basically I had to get together a case. I was fortunate that a lot of the guys, some of the top guys in TNA were really good. They jumped on it. They filled out these huge applications for me and did that. One of the guys I wanted to approach was Hulk Hogan. I went up to him and said, “Hey Hulk, here’s my situation. I am applying for a case and was wondering if you would be able to put something together for me.” He was just the coolest guy about it. He had to put a lot of personal details, addresses… a full on sort of form. Saying why I should be accepted to stay here. It’s a really tough process. He was super cool and even a lot of these guys that this case got forwarded to. Maybe they don’t know wrestling or professional wrestling like we would but one of the names that they would know would obviously be Hulk Hogan. I think a big part of me getting that success was definitely him.”
Terry on working with Robbie E in TNA: “I had just finished coming out of the “Team Immortal” sort of deal. Then I was introduced and they put me with Robbie E and I was like, “Man, what’s going to go on here?” Ya know? He’s a larger than life kind of guy. He’s extremely funny but I am like, “How am I going to fit in with this guy?” We started spending time together and I would come home to my wife after TV after a short time and all of a sudden I would start calling my wife, “bro.” She was like, “What did you just call me?” So, he started rubbing off on me straight away. He’s just, I’m not sure if you’ve met him or not, he’s just a really cool guy. Really easy to get along with. We’ve hit it off and a lot of the things we did it would just be very natural. We had all of these ideas and we just worked together really well which is what helped us. The entire time we did our stuff we really enjoyed it. I think we both agree that we could have gotten more mileage out of it. We could have done a few other things that we really didn’t get the chance to do. That’s just the way it is sometimes. You really don’t have control of that. We had a great time.”
