LA Knight’s wait for the elusive WWE World Title continues, as The Megastar failed to dethrone Roman Reigns as World Heavyweight Champion at Money in the Bank 2026.

Tonight’s PLE kicked off with the World Heavyweight Championship clash. Both competitors started trash-talking right from the outset. Knight got the better of the initial exchange, as he flipped off Roman after mocking his trademark One’s sign. The momentum continued to shift throughout the match. At one point, Roman went for a Spear, but Knight rolled out of the way, sending Reigns shoulder-first into the ring post.

Knight followed it up with a Superplex and then flattened Reigns with the Burning Hammer, but the champ kicked out. Later, Reigns responded with a Uranage, but this time, LA kicked out. Reigns then attempted to Powerbomb LA through the commentary table, but Knight drove him into the steel steps.

Back in the ring, and the two got into a shoving contest, with Roman getting the better of the exchange, thanks to a Superman Punch. Reigns then set himself up for a Spear, but Knight responded with a BFT for another near fall. Knight copied Roman’s mannerisms as he locked in for a Spear of his own, only to eat one from Reigns. However, to the Roman’s disappointment, The Megastar lived to fight another day.

Reigns continued to berate Knight and went for another Spear. But this time, Knight countered it with a Spear of his own, but again, he couldn’t secure the elusive pinfall. The action once again spiraled at ringside, where Roman went crashing into the barricade after attempting another Spear. Knight Powerbombed Reigns through the announce table and dragged his body to deliver a Flying Elbow. But Reigns refused to stay down.

Knight went for another BFT. However, Roman countered it, and in desperation, he hoisted Knight across the top rope and followed it up with two Superman Punches and another Spear to retain the title. After the match, the Royce Keys-led 946 appeared in the crowd, only to be confronted by The Usos and Solo Sikoa. This triggered a brawl that spiraled on backstage, with the rival factions fighting all over the arena before 946 ultimately retreated.

This was Roman’s fifth successful title defense. His reign currently stands at 174 days. He captured the championship from CM Punk at WrestleMania 42 Night Two.
