Tyra Mae Steele caused a pit of confusion with a tweet that she posted which led fans to believing that she was released from WWE, but that is not the case. The WWE LFG season one winner posted to her Twitter account on Thursday morning, writing:
“On a weekend off working for WWE,
I went back to Olympic wrestling, won gold at Worlds, prize purse was $350000….
Tried to go back to WWE that Monday.
They moved me up to Raw, just to tell me they had to let me go bc I went behind their back….
So was this a [Nightmare or Dream]”
After she posted the tweet, a number of fans (and some outlets and aggregators) took this to mean that she had been released. However, multiple outlets/reporters including PWInsider, Cory Hays of Bodyslam, and Sean Ross Sapp have confirmed with WWE that she has not been released. The consensus is that Steele was literally just talking about a dream that she had — which makes sense as she has not gone back to Olympic wrestling, not won gold at Worlds and has not been moved to Raw.
Steele has been competing on WWE EVOLVE as of late and was on last night’s episode, losing an EVOLVE Women’s Championship match to Kendal Grey. Grey vacated the title after her successful defense.
