Rusev has outlined a long-term plan for his wrestling career while confirming he feels physically stronger than he has in years. The former United States Champion said he intends to compete until age 45, then reassess his body, emphasizing that his current condition allows him to perform at a high level consistently.
During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Rusev explained that improved recovery habits have played a major role in extending his longevity. The 40-year-old noted that experience has changed how he approaches physical maintenance.
“I said 45 and then reevaluate the body, see how it feels. But so far, I feel great. I haven’t felt that good in a long time, because it’s not like you have matches every day. So the body is way more protected. I take care of my body a lot more. I do a lot of stretching and massages. I eat a lot better. I train a lot smarter. So I just take care of my body, and I know that the body’s going to take care of me.”
His return to WWE places him back on a demanding schedule, including weekly televised events and live appearances. However, Rusev also clarified that reaching age 45 is not a fixed retirement deadline. Instead, it represents a checkpoint to reevaluate himself. If his body continues responding well, he may extend his career beyond that mark.
