Former AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) and NJPW’s Ryohei Oiwa continue to engage in a war of words on social media.
As noted, MJF sent a video message to Oiwa during NJPW Road to King of Pro-Wrestling Night Two, issuing a challenge to the latter and offering to put his Triple B on the line, as he aims to prove himself as the Master of Headlock and finish off New Japan Pro-Wrestling for good.
Oiwa, who is set to challenge Yota Tsuji for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at King of Pro-Wrestling 2026 this Monday, responded to MJF’s challenge on social media, stating that he’ll think about it once he wins the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.
“Read the room! You spent forever shitting on New Japan, but that ain’t the case now, right? All I’m watching now is Yota Tsuji! I’ll think about it after he wins the IWGP,” Oiwa wrote.
MJF later said in response, “Be grateful, I’m letting you live until then. I’m coming to you because you and everyone in your country are too pu*sy to come to me.”
When another user chimed in and expressed their excitement at the prospect of Friedman coming to Japan, the AEW star wrote that he hopes the match takes place on American soil so that he avoids coming to the Asian country.
MJF said, “I pray to god he accepts the match on American soil so I don’t have to come to your dogsh*t country!”
MJF has been away from AEW TV since All In: London, where he competed in the Casino Gauntlet Match. Check out the conversation below.
