Shawn Michaels Comments On Bret Hart Accusing Him Of Sleeping With Vince McMahon

Bret Hart said late last year that he thought Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon were sleeping with each other back in the 1990s, something Michaels commented on in a new interview. Hart made the doozy of a claim during a Q&A in November of last year, saying that he thought back in 1997 that Michaels and McMahon were intimate because of certain moments. He specifically recalled how emotional Vince was backstage as Michaels gave his famous “Lost My Smile” speech in February of 1997 as a moment where he thought, “I think there’s more going on here between these two guys.”
Michaels spoke with Ringer Wrestling for a new interview and was asked about Hart’s opinion on the current WWE product, and when they had last talked. He recalled it was at last year’s Hall of Fame and then commented on Hart’s comments about him and McMahon. You can see the highlights below:
On the Last Time He Talked With Hart:
“The last time we had a conversation, I believe — I think it was the Hall of Fame last year. Actually yeah, because we were in the same dressing room and I helped him put on his suspenders. I mean I mean in a good way. It’s just one of those things, you know. It’s like, first time ever wearing suspenders and I’ve worn it before. But you know, we we chatted then.”
On Hart’s Comments About Him and McMahon:
“It wasn’t long after that, that I hear about whatever, doing things with Vince. Which you go like, ‘Ah, what are you gonna do.’ Never happened. But you know, it’s the wrestling business. I’m never sure what’s out there to get a rise out of people or to make things — it’s the wrestling business, and I don’t put a lot of stock in that. All I know is we had a nice conversation in the room, you know, helped him put his suspenders on.
“There might be, I don’t know, things he doesn’t like. I understand that, and there are lots of things people don’t like. Everybody has a right to their opinion on everything these days. I don’t begrudge anyone on that. And I dunno. I just do what I can to focus on me and my life. I know we’re a happy family, I know we have a good time in NXT and I’m doing everything that I can to give back to the business that has been so good to me.”
On the Story Making the Rounds:
“It sounds silly, I guess. But — because good news is not clickworthy and bingeworthy. But you know, I live a positive, joyful life. It’s boring as hell to some people, but I’d just rather do that than the other. And I also say that I don’t want to be a bitter old timer. I feel like we get enough of those. Not to imply that anyone is. I’m just saying that I look at the whole life thing of, ‘The glass is half-full’ type stuff and go from there.”
