Shawn Michaels Says Randy Orton Brought a ‘Whole Different Look’ To Selling Sweet Chin Music

Shawn Michaels was a big fan of the way that Randy Orton sold taking his Sweet Chin Music finisher, noting that he sold it differently each time. Michaels’ superkick was a top finisher at a time when the superkick wasn’t such a prevalent move in wrestling, and he delivered it to Orton on a number of occasions.
Michaels recently spoke with Adrian Hernandez for the latter’s Unlikely show and was asked about his famed delivery of the move to Shelton Benjamin, who springboarded into the kick. He took time to praise Orton for how he would vary the way he sold the maneuver.
“He took it like a champ,” Michaels said of Benjamin (per Fightful). “But I will say, one of the people that I always thought sold it in a unique way was Randy. Honestly, Randy would take it differently every time. So many people would take a snapback and Randy could almost crumble down in a very unique way.”
He continued, “I have to give Randy a lot of credit for bringing a whole different look to sell the Sweet Chin Music on a number of occasions.”
Michaels is the subject of a Peacock documentary The Heartbreak Kid: Becoming Shawn Michaels, which is now available on the streaming service.
