Shawn Spears Doesn’t Think Celebrities Are Taking Spots from Full-Time Wrestlers

Speaking with Off Her Chops recently, Shawn Spears explained that he sees no problem with outside celebrity guests gaining in-ring opportunities (via Wrestling Inc). In Spears’ mind, those spots would be more likely to get assigned to full-time talent were they not slacking, which is a problem he says he observes regularly. Spears also indicated that guest spots granted to performers like Bad Bunny and Logan Paul are examples of valid bookings considering the effort and talent displayed by both men. You can find a highlight from Spears and listen to the full podcast below.
On if outside guests are taking full-time booking opportunities: “I’ve got no problems with any of that. What I’ve got problems with, and I see it a lot on a weekly basis, there’s a lot of people who have contracts and feel they’ve made it and don’t put any effort into their craft, and it shows. It shows in the ring, and then everybody complains.”
