Shayna Baszler Comments on Accusations of Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano Being a Work

Former WWE Superstar Ronda Rousey had a successful return to mixed martial arts on Saturday night, tapping out Gina Carano in seventeen seconds with an armbar. I wasn’t surprised by the result and it doesn’t seem like most other people were either, it’s just that we were hoping the fight might go over a minute. With all due respect to Gina and how hard she trained for this fight, I don’t think the result would have been much different if they were both in their prime.

Of course, anytime a heavily hyped main event goes under a minute, people start shouting about the fix being in. Shayna Baszler, one of Ronda’s best friends and a fellow former WWE Superstar, took to social media to address the nature of Rousey’s victory and how people shouldn’t have been surprised.

Shayna Baszler was also active in the comments discussing things with fans, and she made the point that Gina Carano lasting more than one round would have been more of an indication that the fight was a work. I agree with her 100%.
