AEW star Skye Blue recently opened up about performing in the first-ever Women’s Blood & Guts match last year.
On November 12, 2025, All Elite Wrestling presented the first-ever Women’s Blood & Guts match, with Julia Hart, Skye Blue, Thekla, Megan Bayne, Marina Shafir, and Mercedes Mone taking on The Babes of Wrath (Willow Nightingale & Harley Cameron), Jamie Hayter, Kris Statlander, “Timeless” Toni Storm, and Mina Shirakawa.
Blue made a huge impression in the violent match, as she battled for nearly an hour after being busted open during the initial stages of the contest. The images of her smiling as blood gushed from her head instantly became iconic.
In a recent conversation with Soundsphere Magazine, Skye Blue recounted the match and that moment as a fun memory. She also revealed why the brutality in the match was important for her.

“I was ecstatic. I was the happiest human, because I remember I felt like—this is gonna be a very niche comparison – but the episode of Game of Thrones when John Snow is covered in blood from the Battle of the Bastards. That’s what I felt at that moment, like, ‘I am the coolest bitch on the planet.’ I was bloody until the end of the night. By the time I blinked, it was the end of the night, and I was like, ‘Oh, I’m still caked in my own blood, guys. We should probably glue my forehead shut.’”
On why the brutality in the match was important to her
The brutality in the match, according to Sky Blue, was important, as it showcased the strength and versatility of the women’s division.
“I’m the person who always has the mindset of, ‘We can do it, too.’Yeah, it’s crazy, but we can do it.’ We all fell in love with wrestling,” she says of the entire roster. We all fell in love with the same thing, and we just wanna show what we love to do and do the best we can. We’re always gonna want to keep pushing for more and more and more. I don’t think anybody should ever be satisfied. You should always want to strive to be the best and have the most opportunities.”
Blue and Co. emerged victorious in the match via surrender.
