Swerve Strickland says that being powerbombed onto a cinder block is the worst thing he’s ever done in terms of pain, and he won’t do it again. The moment happened during Strickland’s match with Hangman Page at AEW All Out 2024. While most people remember the infamous syringe spot in the match, Strickland told Hot 97 that the cinder block, which involved an actual cinder block and not anything gimmicked, was the one he has said “never again” to.

Strickland spoke about how he had to just not think about it so he didn’t second-guess the spot, and said there was no real recovery process for him beyong a heating pad and ice. You can see highlights below:

On Who He Looked Up to Growing Up:

“[The syringe] wasn’t as bad as getting powerbombed on the cinder block, full-on cinder block. That was a full on, real cinder block. That was probably the worst thing I’ve ever done. I was like, ‘never again! Never again.’”

On What Was Going Through His Mind On the Spot:

“Nothing! It has to empty, I have to empty my mind. Because I can’t have any other thoughts. Because I’m like, ‘Do it before I just say no. Do it now.’ Because like, there’s a time and window before I come to my realization that this is stupid.”

On His Recovery Process:

“There is no real recovery. It’s heating pad. Ice, lay down. I try to avoid pills as much as possible, because — I try to. Because I want to try to find some remedy that doesn’t require medication, or like abusing it.”
