Taz Comments on Hook Turning Heel at AEW Full Gear, Explains ‘The Real Magic of the Game’

As previously reported, Hook shockingly turned heel last night during the main event of AEW Full Gear 2025, and Hook’s dad, AEW broadcaster Taz, has some thoughts on the matter. Hook interfered during the Steel Cage Match main event, featuring Hangman Page defending the AEW World Title against former champion, Samoa Joe.

Hook interfered, it appeared to prevent The Opps from cheating. Instead, Hook blasted Hangman Page with the AEW World Title belt. Hook then removed his jacket, revealing a shirt for The Opps underneath it. Hook was loyal to The Opps all along.

The belt shot allowed Samoa Jo to capitalize and score the win and the title. Taz later commented on the heel turn via his social media.

Taz wrote, “I learned a long time ago, the wrestling business is not as much about the physical. It’s more of the connection emotionally to the audience either negative or positive …it’s really about making people FEEL something.” He added, “Make them laugh, make them sad, make them mad, make them THINK…that’s the REAL magic of the game.”

Earlier in the night, Hook teamed up with Eddie Kingston in a dominant victory over The Workhorsemen. It’s highly likely that the tag team partnership between Hook and Taz is all but over now, as Kingston tried to stop The Opps from cheating against Hangman last night.
