Tomohiro Ishii Suffers Injury & Withdraws From New Japan Cup, Replaced by Satoshi Kojima

New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) announced that veteran wrestler, Tomohiro Ishii, suffered a neck injury, forcing him to withdraw form the upcoming New Japan Cup tournament. Satoshi Kojima will now serve as Ishii’s replacement in the upcoming New Japan Cup tournament.

Tomohiro Ishii was originally scheduled to take part int he tournament later this month after a first-round bye. NJPW notes that Ishii “sustained a neck injury and will be absent for the duration of the tour.

He last wrestled at NJPW The New Beginning USA in Trenton, New Jersey last Friday. Oleg Boltin defeated Ishii to win the NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship. Also, he faced Andrade El Idolo earlier in the week at the AEW Collision TV tapings. The match later aired last Saturday (Feb. 28).

With Kojima substituting for Ishii in the New Japan Cup, he will face the winner of Ren Narita and Taichi in Round 2 of the tournament. The event takes place on March 12 in Takamatsu, Japan.
