Tony Khan Thinks WBD & Paramount Merger ‘Will Make AEW Stronger,’ Says WBD Executives Are at Dynamite Tonight

AEW President and CEO Tony Khan went live today on X ahead of tonight’s Dynamite in celebration of All Out Week. During the live session, Khan spoke about the pending Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) and Paramount Skydance merger, reiterating his belief that “it will make AEW stronger.”
As previously reported, Paramount Skydance settled its lawsuit with 11 states attempting to block the merger. That appeared to be the last major legal hurdle to complete Paramount’s merger with WBD.
Khan says in the video, “I’ve gone on record and said, I look forward to a time when, hopefully, it will be Paramount and Warner Bros. together. I think it will make AEW stronger. I’ve said it time and time again, and I believe we are very close to that time. And ladies and gentlemen, speaking to our partners at Warner Bros., who have been with us since the very beginning, the inception of AEW, they’re here tonight for Wednesday Night Dynamite!”
Tony Khan also praised Paramount Skydance CEO, David Ellison. Khan continued regarding the merger, “As far as the merger goes, I’m just gonna say it one more time. What a fantastic announcement for AEW and our fans to have the leadership of David Ellison coming in. I’ve said it time and time again. This is somebody who loves professional wrestling and loves sports.”
He added on Ellison, “It’s somebody who I’ve worked with in the National Football League, whether it’s NFL Films and CBS, and our great partnership with the NFL. This is a great TV producer, a great film producer, and somebody who I think is going to be a great leader for Warner Bros., just like he is now for Paramount. I’m excited about what’s happening in the world of media, and you should too if you’re an AEW fan because ladies and gentlemen, this is a great time for us.”
Khan also talked up All In delivering promotion’s “biggest pay-per-view yet on HBO Max,” along with one of Dynamite’s best viewerships ever for last week’s Dynamite, as the No. 1-ranked show on cable for all of Wednesday (Sept. 16).
Tony Khan To Appear on AEW Advance Before Tonight’s Dynamite
Additionally, Khan hyped that he will be going on AEW Advance later today before Dynamite. The show streams on TikTok tonight and is hosted by Lexy Nair and Arkady Aura. The digital series is produced by Warner Bros. Discovery.
Khan said he plans on talking about tonight’s show and also announce some new matches. Tonight’s AEW Dynamite is being held at the Fishers Event Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. It will be broadcast live on TBS starting at 8:00 pm ET and will be simulcast on HBO Max.
