Tony Schiavone Praises Robert Evans’ Work As Writer In AEW

Tony Schiavone recently offered up some praise for Robert Evans’ work as a writer backstage in AEW. Evans joined the AEW creative team in June of 2024. He had previously worked in TNA as Creative Director, but left in May in a reportedly mutual decision.

Schiavone touched on what Evans and Chuck Taylor were doing in an episode of What Happened When when watching a match between the two from their CHIKARA days. You can see the highlights below:

On Taylor and Evans’ Roles In AEW:

“Chuck’s one of our coaches, or as the WWE calls them producers. And Archibald, or Robert Evans, is one of our writers. One of our — he works with the talent and doing interviews. And just a very, very intelligent, super intelligent guy. He and my son Matt became very good friends. They’re both Star Wars nerds.”

On Whether Evans Is Happy With Where He’s At:

“I think he enjoys what he does. I think we use him the right way, because he’s very smart. And I’ve seen him work with talent, and I’ve seen him work with talent on their on their skills as far as promos are concerned. He’s very good at it. We have three very good writers. We really do.”
