Trick Williams Defeats Sami Zayn to Retain US Title at WWE Backlash 2026

Sami Zayn’s obsession with Lil Yachty proved to be his undoing at WWE Backlash 2026, as he failed to regain the United States Championship against Trick Williams.
Zayn tried everything in his playbook, including feigning a knee injury and also hitting Trick with the kendo stick, to pick up the victory, but the Canadian was unsuccessful in his attempts.
The closing moments of the match saw Zayn attack Yachty with a kendo stick on the outside and then hit Trick with a DDT onto the steel steps. Instead of focusing on his opponent, Sami went for a Helluva Kick on Yachty. After flattening the rapper with his signature finishing move, Zayn attempted the same on Williams. However, the US Champion was equal to the task, as he moved out of the way and followed it up with the Trick Shot to clinch a pinfall victory.
Trick’s reign currently stands at 21 days. He won the title from Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 42 Night Two.
