WWE cut ties with Hulk Hogan following the late legend’s racist comments came to light in 2015, and Triple H recently recalled calling Hogan to inform him. Triple H appeared in Netflix’s Hulk Hogan: Real American docuseries and spoke about how he was the person to call Hogan and tell him WWE was ending their relationship with him at the time
The moment came after a tape of Hogan making racist comments from his 2007 sex tape were reported on. The incident led to Hogan’s being removed from the WWE Hall of Fame and being scrubbed off all of WWE’s digital platforms.
“At that point, there was still a relationship business-wise between Hulk Hogan and WWE,” the now-WWE CCO recalled (per Fightful). “When all the stuff came out, I’m the guy who had to call and say, ‘We can’t move forward, Terry. We’re done.’”
Triple H added, “Hogan is one of the biggest legends in the history of this business, that’s undeniable. I didn’t fire Hulk Hogan. I fired Terry Bollea.”
Hogan was eventually welcomed back to WWE and was reinstated into the Hall of Fame in 2018. He was again inducted into the Hall via the nWo. His match with Andre the Giant at WrestleMania III was inducted this year as an Immortal Moment.” Hogan passed away in July of last year.
Real American: Hulk Hogan is now streaming on Netflix. You can see our own Robert Leighty’s report of the fourth and final episode here.
