WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque was recently featured in a new TKO Spotlight video, where he discussed his career and transitioning from a professional wrestler to a creative executive. You can view that video below, along with some highlights:
Triple H on Seeing All the Different Eras and Changes of the Guard
“I’ve been fortunate enough to have been with WWE for 30 years. To see changes in the guard, I’ve seen talent come and go, I’ve seen ebbs and flows of the business. But I think having been through all of those, having been a key component in the Attitude Era, which many people see as one of the all-time great eras in our business. I’m fortunate in that I experienced all of it.”
On Falling in Love With the Behind-the-Scenes Process
“Early in my career, I sort of fell in love with the behind-the-scenes of the business. I was very interested in what would the creative process to putting the shows together. Nick [Khan] is the most incredible businessman I worked with on a day-to-day basis. His business sense and acumen and all of that, and his experience is second to none, but he’s also a huge fan of WWE. He sees the things that work and that don’t.”
What’s Different About Being a WWE Executive Compared to a Superstar
“When you’re a WWE Superstar, your focus is singularly on you. When you switch to being an executive, it’s about everybody else. Your job goes from being singularly focused to just this wide net of everything that you have in front of you, and it’s dealing with people. But it’s a lot easier to deal with them when you get to slam them than it is when you can’t slam them and just have to talk to them.”
Triple H made a rare WWE TV appearance earlier this week on Monday Night Raw, stopping Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi from coming to blows.
