Velvet Sky looked back at the infamous speech that Dixie Carter made to the TNA talent in 2009, noting how poorly-received it was by the roster. Carter made the speech, which was filmed and aired, on November 5th, 2009.
Carter spoke in the speech about her decisions such as hiring Hulk Hogan. She noted that it was “time for a change” and that “no one likes drastic change.” She said she expected people to support her “100%.” Carter added that she couldn’t allow people to question her and that talent could support her and TNA’s direction, or leave.
Sky was a member of the TNA roster at the time and she retweeted a video of the speech. She criticized Carter and said no one cared about what she was saying. She accused Carter of trying to get her ego stroked.
Sky wrote:
“I remember this day. The consensus of the locker room and staff during this “meeting” was not one single person gave a shit what she was saying and we actually had to take time out of production day for this nonsense from her and it had to be filmed so she could have her “my way or the highway” ego stroked even more. She was not well received by most because of the way she treated people who could do nothing for her and the way she would talk down to people. Vile.”
Carter’s time atop TNA continued until 2017, when she sold the company to Anthem Sports and Entertainment.
