Vince McMahon Went On Tirade at WrestleMania 37 Over Hulk Hogan Changing Out of Pirate Costume

Vince McMahon is famously a micromanager (among other things), and he apparently went ballistic at WrestleMania 37 over Hulk Hogan changing out of his pirate costume. To refresh your memories, Hogan appeared at the 2021 WrestleMania as a host alongside Titus O’Neal. Both hosts were dressed as pirates for the show, which had a nautical-pirate theme to its branding due to its taking place at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. Hogan was heavily booed in his appearance on night two.
Fightful Select relates the story in their latest Fightful Select Answers Q&A, in which a fan asked about wild stories of McMahon’s micromanaging. The site recalled this story that was related by sources of how Hogan went to take off the pirate outfit later in the night into something more comfortable, and got permission from one of the WWE writers to do it. Apparently this did not sit well with McMahon, who had wanted to film more content with Hogan.
He lost it when he saw Hogan out of costume and screamed at staff that they had “ruined one of the greatest moments in WrestleMania history” by letting Hogan change.
The report notes that Vince McMahon stood alone on this and Hogan didn’t see the big deal. Hogan told McMahon that the costume was very uncomfortable. McMahon continued to make “a number of snide remarks” afterward.
