Vince Russo is Vince Russo-ing again, proposing that AEW form an alliance with JCW that will “blow the WWE into oblivion” (but with more capital letters and exclamation marks). Russo is currently the head of creative for Juggalo Championship Wrestling in addition to his podcast with Jonathan Coachman, The Coach & Bro Show. Russo and Coachman are known for, among other things, being highly critical of AEW and Tony Khan on the podcast.

That all appears to have changed after Khan responded to a post by Coachman suggesting that he appear on the Coach & Bro Show. Coachman said Khan had an “open invitation” to appear on the podcast, to which the AEW President wrote:

“I would love to come on the show with you + @THEVinceRusso, Coach!I’ve been a fan of both of yours for many years!

Also I think that Vince is doing a tremendous job on @jcwlunacy, which I enjoy very much.”

While Khan has not in fact appeared on the podcast yet, Russo posted earlier this week to leapfrog that idea straight into proposing a JCW & AEW alliance. He wrote:

“@TonyKhan—I got it CONFIRMED on a Good Word that you REALLY DO enjoy @jcwlunacy !!!

While that’s cool and much, much appreciated—give me a follow back. Let’s talk some creative. Let’s do something that will blow the @WWE INTO OBLIVION!!!

You’ve heard about me over the years, but you’ve never had the opportunity to get to know me.

LET’s GIVE THEM SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT!!!”

Dave Meltzer weighed in on the whole thing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. He noted that Khan’s willingness to appear on the podcast is similar to his having made up with Ariel Helwani in that he is trying to be “nice” with those who have been critical of AEW instead of just ignoring them.

To be clear, Meltzer is not stating, nor is he trying to suggest, that there’s any notion that Khan is considering such an alliance. He said that while nothing would shock him, the idea of Russo being brought to AEW TV and given input on creative is, as we all would suspect, highly unlikely. He pointed out that if Khan didn’t change his approach to doing AEW creative his own way during 2024 when the company was on a downward slide, he’s not going to do so now when the company is on the upswing.

Khan has, as of now, not publicly responded to Russo’s proposal.
