– During a recent appearance on the Athletes and the Arts podcast, AEW star and TNT Champion Wardlow revealed that he suffered a torn calf injury before the first Blood & Guts match, so he hid the injury and went through with the match anyway.
Wardlow said on Blood & Guts (via WrestlingInc.com, “I am wrestling year-round with injuries. I got in trouble with Doc, actually, one time because I didn’t tell anybody about a torn calf that blew doing sprints because I was getting prepared for Blood & Guts,” he continued, “And I wasn’t going to miss that match for nothing. So, I hid it and I wrestled with a completely torn calf.”
The first Blood & Guts Match took place on May 5, 2021. Wardlow competed as part of The Pinnacle team against The Inner Circle. Wardlow’s team won after The Inner Circle lost by surrender.
At this weekend’s AEW All Out 2022 event, Wardlow will team with FTR against the team of Jay Lethal and the Motor City Machine Guns. The event is set for Sunday, August 4 at the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. The show will be broadcast live on pay-per-view.
