Warner Bros. Discovery has shot down the report that it had anything to do with Brody King being absent from last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite. It was reported by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio earlier on Thursday that King was kept off of AEW Dynamite because WBD did not want the fans in the arena doing another anti-ICE chant the way that they did the week before.

Meltzer had noted that it was “not a Tony [Khan] call” and that WBD did not want to anger President Trump while the company goes through the approval process for their deal to sell to Netflix.

WBD has taken the step of issuing an official statement denying the report. A representative from the company told 411 in a statement:

“Warner Bros. Discovery did not have any involvement in Brody King’s upcoming AEW schedule. Any speculation to the contrary is categorically false. Brody is scheduled to appear during the next AEW event, which will air this Saturday on TNT and HBO Max.”

King is scheduled to challenge MJF for the AEW World Championship at Grand Slam Australia on Saturday.

In related news, Sean Ross Sapp noted in response to a question in the latest Fightful Select Answers Q&A that as you may expect, the plan was not to have King beat MJF as of his win over the World Champion on AEW Dynamite and while anything is possible considering the mainstream attention it has received, not to expect it based on long-term creative plans.
