During a recent interview with Undisputed and Justin Barrasso, AEW wrestler Wheeler Yuta discussed his experience competing in the men’s Blood & Guts match on last week’s AEW Dynamite. Below are some highlights:

Wheeler Yuta on His Moment in the Match Where He Appears Lost in Thought

“As pro wrestlers, we really overthink things and put a lot of extra thought into what we’re doing. There’s a lot of good from that, but there are also times when you can just exist and let it be. This was one of those moments for me. As crazy as the surroundings were, I remember thinking to myself, ‘This is the place I should be right now.’ That Blood and Guts cage, it felt like where I belong.”

On Competeing in the First Blood & Guts Match

“The first year I was in Blood & Guts, I got to the match early so I could climb the cage early. When I got up to the top, I stayed there for like another 20 minutes because I was too scared to climb back down. It was pretty terrifying. Climbing that cage wasn’t easy.”

On How He’s Gotten Used to the Experience Now

“I have no data to back this up, but I think it’s the tallest cage in the history of pro wrestling. I’m used to it now, even if I’m sweating or bloody. To be up there, it’s nerve-wracking. But when you do this for a living, getting up there makes you feel alive. The adrenaline makes it really special. I wouldn’t trade that feeling for the world.”

On The Death Riders Looking to Bounce Back After Recent Losses

“We’re looking to bounce back. We’ve suffered a couple losses, but we’ve succeeded in forcing everyone else to step up their game. Now it’s our turn to do the same.”

The men’s Blood & Guts match saw the team of Darby Allin, Roderick Strong, and The Conglomeration beat The Death Riders. Wheeler Yuta has now competed in three Blood & Guts matches including in the years 2022, 2023, and 2025.
