Mike Tenay was absent from the first two episodes of Dark Side of the Ring season seven looking at TNA, and a new report has details on why. The first two of the three-part series on Jeff Jarrett and TNA served as the season seven premiere of the series on Tuesday. The episode featured interviews with Jarrett, Jim Cornette, Vince Russo, Karen Jarrett, D’Lo Brown, Scott D’Amore, and a number of other major figures involved with TNA. However, Dixie Carter and Tenay were notably absent.
The episodes noted that Carter did not respond to efforts to interview her for the show, but did not mention Tenay. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Tenay chose not to be involved in the series.
There’s no word on why Tenay chose not to be involved, but he also will not feature in next week’s episode which will conclude the three-part arc on TNA and Jarrett.
Mike Tenay was the voice of TNA from its founding up until 2016 when he retired from the wrestling business. He and the late Don West were inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame in 2023.
