Note on Why Tony Schiavone Missed Last Night’s AEW Dynamite

Tony Schiavone was not part of last night’s AEW Dynamite, with Ian Riccaboni filling in for him. During the broadcast, they said he was ‘on assignment’. In the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that Schiavone was forced to miss Dynamite due to a family situation. It had nothing to do with the tweet that Schiavone sent out and deleted about NJPW commentator Chris Charlton.
Meltzer said: “He wasn’t on the show tonight, and it’s nothing big or anything like that. When he wasn’t there, I started getting all these people going like, ‘Oh my God, did he get suspended for that [tweet]?’ But it was just a family situation. He’s fine, he’ll be back, you know, I presume on Saturday. It’s not anything to be alarmed over. It was just a family situation, he missed one show. So that’s the situation there.“
