Backstage News On WWE & AEW Both Wanting Arez, Identity of El Clon

Hologram saw his code “hacked” after his win over Jay Lethal on AEW Collision over the weekend, leading to the debut of his clone, El Clon. Luchablog has revealed the identity of El Clon, reporting that Arez is the man behind the mask. Arez is best known for his work in AAA. He has also worked in the U.S. for GCW and MLW. Hologram, then wrestling under Aramis, and Arez have been involved in programs together in Mexico for quite some time now, so it’s not surprising that the two are now working together in AEW.
Luchablog also reports that WWE had recently reached out to Arez and wanted him to sign a new deal with AAA. Arez told AEW about the interest from WWE, leading to AEW making an offer which he accepted. WWE acquired AAA back in April. AEW has been working with CMLL.
Arez is currently suffering from a foot injury that he got while wrestling for RIOT Lucha Libre over the weekend, though the injury is said to be not “super serious,” so it should not impact the Hologram – El Clon storyline.
