Backstage Update on the Future of the WWE Draft

Fans have been waiting for the WWE Draft since 2024, and their long wait may continue, according to a recent update. According to Bodyslam+, sources close to the matter indicate that there is no tentative date set for the 2026 WWE Draft.

The company last did the shakeup of its RAW and SmackDown rosters during the summer of 2024. Fans expected the same in 2025, but nothing came of it, as WWE focused on reshuffles throughout the year, apart from bringing in NXT talent to RAW and SmackDown. In recent months, Jordynne Grace, Lash Legend, Trick Williams, Je’Von Evans, and two-time NXT Champion Oba Femi have transitioned from the developmental brand to the main roster.

Bodyslam+ further noted that WWE held multiple internal discussions for the 2025 Draft, and its PLE partner in the US, ESPN, was interested in hosting it. However, nothing materialized from those discussions.

The Draft has long been a tool for WWE to freshen up the rosters and the weekly product. However, it seems that the company is now focused on minor, story-related adjustments to the rosters apart from introducing NXT talents to the main roster.
