WWE Erases Botched Finish From Smackdown Women’s Title Match on Youtube, Details On What Happened
During last night’s episode of WWE Smackdown, there came a moment towards the end of the match in which a pin attempt was severely botched. Jade Cargill hit her ‘Eye of the Storm’ on Nia Jax. She went for the pin and Jax kicked out, which was followed by Tiffany Stratton hitting Cargill with a dropkick. Stratton then went for her own pin, but Jax didn’t kick out. Instead, the referee stopped her count. The crowd then began to boo. Stratton would then later hit a moonsault in order to get the win.
WWE uploaded a clip from the match to Youtube, but it takes out the botched pin. The edited version shows Stratton hit the dropkick on Cargill, then it cuts immediately to her hitting the moonsault for the win.
According to TC from Wrestlevotes, part of the reason for the error was due to the finish of the match getting changed on the fly. Stratton was always meant to win, but not in the way that she did. Cargill was busted open earlier in the match after taking a samoan drop on the steel steps by Nia Jax. Cargill was meant to be involved in the finish but needed immediate medical attention. As a result, a new ending had to be improvised, and with only three minutes left in the show. TJ Wilson was the producer for the match.
This gotta be one of the WORST botches of the year 😭#SmackDown

Tiffany was always scheduled to win, but Jade bleeding made them come up with a finish on the fly resulting in the clunkiness we saw.
It's extremely difficult to communicate & execute everything on the fly so quickly when the show has less than 3 minutes until its off the air.

TJ Wilson (aka Tyson Kidd) was the producer of the WWE Women's World Title match tonight on #SmackDown
The sequence at the end was obviously altered on the fly due to Jade Cargill's gash but the winner of the match was always intended to be Tiffany Stratton.
