Several WWE stars have been pushing for a return to their original entrance themes, according to a new report. It has been reported for some time that WWE talent is unhappy with Def Rebel’s entrance themes for them and have wanted their original entrance themes back, though there hasn’t been much success on that front over the course of the past year-plus. That appears to be changing, as WrestleVotes reports that some talent getting their original themes on Friday’s Smackdown which has already aired internationally due to it taking place in Perth, Australia.
The report notes that according to sources, several stars in the company have been asking for changes to their music “for some time now.” Specifically mentioned in the report were Sheamus and Drew McIntyre. It was noted that a number of requests have been made to revert their entrance music and that it’s not yet clear how many of the requests end up getting granted.
Criticism toward Def Rebel reached its height in June when a “Fire Def Rebel” chant broke out on an episode of WWE NXT over dissatisfaction with Jordynne Grace’s new entrance theme. Sheamus has spoken out about his desire for his theme to return, noting in an interview back in January that he was “tired of asking” about it.
Smackdown airs tonight in the US on USA Network. You can check out our live coverage here.
