WWE Superstar’s New Ring Name Confirmed Following Recent Trademark Filing

WWE has officially locked in a new ring name for one of its recent developmental signings. The company filed a trademark for the name “Tristan Angels” on February 18, and the talent has already updated his social media accounts to reflect the change.

Fightful first reported the filing for two ring names on February 18. WWE had applied for the trademark of “Dorian Van Dux” and “Tristan Angels,” which covers a wide range of entertainment uses, including wrestling performances, online content, fan engagement platforms, and merchandise. That’s standard procedure for WWE, which prefers to secure intellectual property early before investing heavily in character development.

Wrestling Observer now confirms that NXT recruit Nathaniel Cranton is set to perform as Tristan Angels going forward. He previously wrestled under the name Nathan Angel before signing with WWE last October. Since arriving, he had been working NXT live events under his real name while the company finalized branding plans. That phase now appears to be over, with Tristan Angels positioned as his official WWE identity moving ahead in WWE NXT.

As for the name “Dorian Van Dux,” that one remains unconfirmed as to who will use it. There has been speculation that it could be intended for another October signee. The class included Cyril Coquerelle, currently known on NXT as Elio LeFleur, or prospect Mike Derudder. At this point, the company has not publicly linked the name to any specific performer.
