Xelina got paired with her husband Aleister Black during their WWE run, but she says she didn’t want to just be his manager. The two were allied in October of last year, when Xelina (then Zelina Vega) helped Black defeat Damian Priest. The two ended up working together both in a mixed tag team match and when Xelina would accompany Black to the ring.
Xelina spoke with Ring the Belle for a new interview and during the discussion, she spoke about how their original plans were to have her continue wrestling while allied with her husband.
“The whole thing was always, yes, we’ll be together, but I don’t want to become a manager again,” she said (per Wrestling Inc). “Like, you have to promise me that’s not what’s going to happen. He’s like, ‘No, no, no. It’s not going to happen like that…’ and it did.”
She continued, “So I mean, not that it was just that ’cause we obviously had tag matches and things like that. Those things did happen, but it was supposed to be, like, the thing taking me into this new…it was supposed to be like the f**king upgrade.”
The two were released from WWE during the company’s post-WrestleMania roster cuts. Black has returned to his name of Tommy End and the two have worked the independent circuit as of late.
