Thiago Alves Suspended Three Months for UFC 205 Weight Miss

Thiago Alves has been suspended three months for missing weight at UFC 205. The New York State Athletic Commission confirmed the suspension to MMAjunkie on Tuesday. Alves came in overweight for his bout with Jim Miller, which ended up being fought at catchweight. Alves lost via unanimous decision.

While UFC fighters don’t usually have to worry about weight miss suspensions, the NYSAC has taken a tough stance on most regulatory concerns since legalizing MMA. That includes a six month suspension for Kelvin Gastelum for not showing up at the same weigh-ins.
