Hello everyone and welcome to 411mania’s LIVE coverage of UFC Fight Night: Cortes-Acosta vs. Walker, I’m Robert Winfree and I’ll be your host. Well we’re still in the warehouse and boy do we have a bunch of warehouse fights. We lost the main event of Sean Brady vs. Gabriel Bonfim and now our main event is heavyweight slop between Waldo Cortes-Acosta and Johnny Walker. The co-main event is a relevant one for the strawweight division, Tatiana Suarez and Virna Jandiroba are likely fight for a title shot pending what Zhang Weili plans on doing. Strawweight isn’t in a great place right now but Suarez in particular could form an interesting challenger for champion Mackenzie Dern. Davey Grant is always fun and he’s taking on Elijah Smith, Mitch Raposo vs. Marcos Degli has some potential as well. On the prelims Keiichiro Nakamura vs. Ollie Schmid might be OK, Murtazali Magomedov is someone they’re trying to push, and Wellington Turman tends to lose in funny ways. But all in all it’s not a super strong card, so let’s hope for some good action to make up for it.

UFC Fight Night: Cortes-Acosta vs. Walker comes to the world from the Meta Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. On commentary we’ve got Brendan Fitzgerald trying to wrangle Daniel Cormier and Dominick Cruz while McKenzie Pavacich does the roving reporter bit and Bruce Buffer handles announcing. We’re in the smaller 25 foot cage, and under the newer rules. Which apparently include just standing someone up from full back mount these days.

Jose Souza is on a four fight winning streak including a split decision win over Ding Meng in his UFC debut, now he’s trying for his first UFC winning streak. Johnny Parsons is on a six fight winning streak which includes his UFC debut, but that was way back in July of 2023. Parsons is trying to keep that winning streak going while also hoping to stay a bit more active after ending an over three year layoff.

Welterweight Bout: Jonny Parsons (9-3, 169.5 lbs.) vs. Jose Souza (9-1, 171 lbs.)
