CM Punk made an appearance on this week’s WWE Raw after his WrestleMania 42 loss and found himself confronted by Cody Rhodes. Monday night’s show saw the former World Heavyweight Champion come down to the ring and address his loss to Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 42 Sunday.
Punk spoke about how he’s been dealing with a lot of loss lately and talked about paying tribute to people behind the scenes he paid tribute to with his jacket, then talked about losing the title and how all his other losses hurt more. He talked about how being champion helped him not slow down and thanked the fans for helping him process his grief. He said he wasn’t supposed to be champion but was and that he’s still the Best in the World. He said that last night wasn’t his night but vowed not to go home and sulk or go on vacation, because you never know when a title match is going to fall from the sky.
That brought out Cody Rhodes, who came down to the ring and said that he thought Punk was going to freak out and said that Punk deserved the flowers that he got from the Las Vegas crowd and that he’s the one who feels like a loser.
Punk said that Rhodes is not a loser and to keep being champion, noting that he has to stay ready because you never know when a championship opportunity is going to fall out of the sky. Rhodes told Punk to just say when.
