Christopher Daniels says that he’s not seeking a return to the ring, noting that he is happy with where he ended his career. Daniels had his final match on the January 18th, 2025 episode of AEW Collision, losing to Hangman Page in a Texas Deathmatch. Since then, he has worked backstage and as an on-screen personality for the company.
Daniels was asked about a potential return to the ring during a virtual signing for K&S WrestleFest. The former ROH World Champion said that he was slowing down at the end and that it was probably best that it ended when it did.
“I mean, I wish I could but, I have to be honest about physically how my body’s beat up,” Daniels said (per Fightful). “And I watched some of the last matches of my career. I did a lot of stuff in DEFY in Seattle, Washington, and I watched a lot of those matches and while the mental part of those matches is really, really good at least — I’m very proud of it — I have to be honest and say I wasn’t really in the best of shape, and I could tell that I was slowing down.”
He added, “So, yeah… the way it ended for me is probably best that it ended, and yeah, I don’t really have a desire to get back into it just because I don’t wanna embarrass myself.”
Daniels has taken some bumps since, most recently at the AEW Double Or Nothing Buy In pre-show where the Divine Dominion took him out after their win.
