AJ Styles may be retired, but he’s set to enter the ring one more time, as a corner man for his son Avery. Avery Styles will be making his wrestling debut for Georgia’s Squared Circle Action promotion. (via Fightful)
The event has been in the works for a while, with Styles debuting for the promotion as an unnamed referee. After making several calls against wrestler Ashton Martin, Martin and his manager requested the official be fired. Styles promptly quit as a referee, revealed his real name, and challenged Martin to a match. Martin’s trainer Coach Hankins will accompany him to ringside; when Styles asked permission for the same concession, he revealed his trainer was his father AJ.
It’ll take place June 26th at Freedom Fling at the Royston Dome in Royston, Georgia.
On Instagram, Martin wrote, “Next Friday Night i will make history, I will be the one who defeated AJ Styles son in his debut match. I will prove next Friday, why I DESERVE to be where i am. Friday Night will continue and always be FOREVER YOUNG”
That’s a lot of pressure and hype for a debut match. At the same time, having AJ’s eyes on the action puts a lot of pressure on both men to perform at their very best, since he is now a scout for WWE.
