MJF Already Calling Out Sheamus Following News of His Pending WWE Departure

As previously reported, former WWE Champion Sheamus (aka Stephen Farrelly) is leaving WWE when his current contract expires, and it’s said to be happening soon. However, Sheamus isn’t technically a free agent yet, but AEW star and reigning World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) already appears to be calling the wrestler out.

In a social media post (via Fightful), MJF referenced a past Twitter interaction with Sheamus from 2022, writing in the caption, “Bring that smoke, O’Shaunessy.”

The image MJF posted shared images of some 2022 tweets that he directed at Sheamus. MJF was responding to Sheamus throwing a verbal shot at Baron Corbin, saying that real heels wear scarves. MJF reportedly saw that as a veiled shot at him at the time.

MJF later responded, “The guy you alluded to. Stop now, or I’m gonna devour you. You can rock 6-inch lifts and play top guy, but you’ve been handed the ball multiple times and fell. I’m glad you’re having a resurgence and finally figured out how to get over. It only took you a decade. Took me 1 day.”

Sheamus’ WWE contract is reportedly slated to expire soon, but the exact date on which he will become an unrestricted free agent is currently unknown.
