Sheamus has officially said goodbye to WWE following the expiration of his contract, bringing his almost 20-year run with the company to a close. The former world champion shared a farewell message on X on July 10, days after reports surfaced he would leave WWE once his contract expires. His accounts now use his real name, Stephen Farrelly, instead of his longtime ring name.

Sheamus had been away from WWE programming after undergoing shoulder surgery in December. His final match took place on the November 17 episode of RAW. He teamed with John Cena and Rey Mysterio to defeat Dominik Mysterio, Finn Bálor, and JD McDonagh of The Judgment Day.

Fightful Select first reported on July 5 that Sheamus was expected to leave WWE once his contract ended. Shortly afterward, he was moved to the WWE Alumni section on the company’s official website, signaling that his departure had become official.

Farrelly later addressed the news with a brief post that reflected on his time in WWE. His message read:

The Celtic Warrior signed with WWE in 2006 and spent nearly two decades with the company. During that time, he captured the WWE Championship, World Heavyweight Championship, United States Championship, Raw Tag Team Championship, and SmackDown Tag Team Championship. He also won the Royal Rumble, Money in the Bank, and King of the Ring, becoming one of the most accomplished stars of his generation.
