Cook’s Lucha Libre AAA Review 7.11.26
Then. Now. Forever. Together!
We’re live from San Luis Potosi! Rey Mysterio is WALKING! “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio GETS OUT OF HIS CAR! El Grande Americano is RIDING A MOTOR BIKE! Corey Graves & JBL are our hosts.
AAA Cruiserweight Championship #1 Contender Match: Jack Cartwheel vs. Mini Vikingo vs. Dragon Lee: Cartwheel’s been out since April with a dislocated elbow. Hopefully it won’t have a long term effect on his cartwheeling. Vikingo gets clotheslined down before both men kick Cartwheel. Lee kicked outside, Mini Vikingo hits the tope suicida, Cartwheel with one of his own. Vikingo & Cartwheel go to the ring, they flip and do handsprings across from each other. Cartwheel handsprings into a dive on the floor on both Lee & Vikingo. Lee evades a top rope move from Cartwheel then kicks him on the turnbuckle. Lee with the basement dropkick in the corner. Lee places Cartwheel on the top turnbuckle and puts him position for the double stomp, Vikingo breaks that up with a Spanish Fly on Lee. Spin kick to Cartwheel, Vikingo with a meteora for Cartwheel and sets up Lee for one before getting superkicked. Lee gets Vikingo in the Tree of Woe and hits the double stomp. Cartwheel has a twisting splash for Vikingo and Lee breaks up the count. Cartwheel & Lee go at it, Lee with a roll up into a Styles Clash, Cartwheel gets out of that but gets dropped to the floor. Vikingo trips Lee when he runs the ropes, then hits a tornillo on Cartwheel on the outside before getting dropkicked by Lee into the Spanish announcers! Lee gets Spanish Flown by Cartwheel back into the ring for two. Lee evades a shooting star and clotheslines Cartwheel ass over tea kettle. Cartwheel with a sunset flip on Lee before two, Lee with a snap German, they exchange strikes now, Lee with the sitout powerbomb on Cartwheel for two. Lee sets up Cartwheel in the corner, Cartwheel kicks him and goes for a rana, Lee responds with the Styles Clash, but Vikingo comes off the top rope with the 630 on both of them! Cartwheel gets covered for three!
Winner: Mini Vikingo (8:20 via pinfall)
Match Rating: **3/4
The Mini Vikingo push continues…I wouldn’t think he’s beating Rey Fenix but I could be wrong. (If WWE has any plans for Rey Fenix.) This was perfectly fine as far as spotfests go, they didn’t botch anything of great importance and did some cool stuff.
Vikingo, Lee & Cartwheel show mutual respect afterwards.
El Grande Americano is in his locker room, Rey Mysterio comes in to explain Perros del Mal to him. They attacked him because he’s the biggest dog in the yard and they’ve marked their territory. He can’t fight them alone. Grande says he knows their legacy very well, and he doesn’t plan on taking a step back. Rey is right, he can’t win this alone. Before that can continue, Dominik Mysterio comes in and talks about how Perros are opportunists and they see him as weak. Dom talks about how he & Grande will face off at TripleMania, but the match can’t happen if Grande is in the hospital because of Los Perros. Dom will have his back. Grande says he’ll believe it when he sees it.
Mini Vikingo tells Dorian Roldan that he chose the wrong Vikingo. Dorian & Omos head to the ring, we’ll hear from them next! Well, probably just Dorian. Oddly enough, Dorian was speaking English to Omos here while Rey, Dom & Americano spoke Spanish in their segment.
Dorian Roldan & Omos make their way to the ring. Savio Vega has joined Corey & JBL for translation purposes. Doiran is holding El Hijo del Vikingo’s Latin American Championship belt on his shoulder. I wish Savio would translate the crowd chants. Dorian didn’t want to come to this town, he has a sad message for the fans. Because of the negligence of Rey Mysterio, Hijo del Vikingo got injured and will be out for many, many weeks. Dorian wants some respect for Vikingo, a great wrestler that deserves respect from everyone. Vikingo got hurt because Rey sent him to NXT & SmackDown. Dorian will sue Rey because of the negligence. Dorian tells us that Omos will be the new Latin American Champion. Dorian says that if anyone has a problem with that they can come down to the ring and try to take the title from him.
AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio makes his way to the ring. He sends his best wishes to Vikingo. Rey knows what Vikingo is going through due to his own injury history. Rey says Dorian doesn’t have the right to name a new champion. Rey asks Omos to give him the belt. I don’t think I’d ask Omos to give me a belt, but that’s just me. Rey asks Omos to do the right thing, or he will be suspended indefinitely from AAA. Omos forcefully hands the title to Rey. Rey declares the championship vacant, and next week he’ll announce how they’ll declare a new champion. Rey tells Dorian he’ll see him in court and exits the ring.
Damian Priest says that if Rey is looking for a new Latin American Champion he should look no further.
Rey has a few announcements. Verano de Escalando will be a three week event with a main event each week. Rey Fenix will defend the Cruiserweight Championship against Mini Vikingo. Flammer will defend the Reina de Reinas Championship against La Catalina & Lady Shani, and La Hiedra & Laredo Kid will take on Joaquin Wilde & Faby Apache. The winners of the mixed tag will take on Lola Vice & Mr. Iguana at Verano de Escalando. Rey talks about Vikingo’s injury and how it opens up opportunity for others. Andrea Bazarte is asked about by a journalist, and Rey invites her to the show next week.
Money Machine (Garra de Oro & Colmillo de Plata) vs. Noisy Boy & Epydemius Jr.: The positioning of this match has me on angle alert, especially since we haven’t seen a certain advertised group yet. Noisy & Colmillo start the match. A tieup leads to Colmillo taking Noisy over with an arm drag. Noisy flips out of a suplex, does a flip kick, chop, handsprings into the center of the ring. Colmillo claps and tags Garra. Epydemius tags in as well. Garra with some strikes, Epy does a handspring of his own, then a headscissiors. Tornado DDT by Epy. Double neckbreaker on Garra. An assisted backflip splash gets two for Noisy. Noisy runs into a boot. Colmillo tags in and Money Machine double teams since Noisy doesn’t know who’s legal. Some strikes in the corner. Colmilo takes Epy out on the outside with a dive. Double kicks & elbowdrops to Noisy, a long series of double team moves get a two count. Noisy fights out and makes the tag to Epy with a springboard tornillo. Some kicks to Money Machine. Splash in the corner on Colmillo. Garra gets kicked to the other corner. Noisy hits a top rope rana on Colmillo. Epy drops Garra, then hits a twisting senton. Epy dives onto Colmillo. Noisy with a top rope move for two on Garra. Garra slips out of a suplex only to get poison ranaed. Colmillo with a German on Noisy. Epy & Colmillo take each other out with elbow strikes, and that’s when Karmen Petrovic appears in the aisleway. The rest of Perros del Mal hit the ring and attack all four men!
Winner: Nobody (7:56 via no contest)
Match Rating: **
I don’t think anybody thought the result was going to be any different. The work was good, but it’s always tough to get too interested when you know where things are going and you’ve never seen one of the tag teams in your life. That being said, it did serve its purpose.
The Perros rip the dress clothes of Money Machine and hold them down in the ring. Daga calls out El Grande Americano. Grande accepts and appears in the entranceway with Rayo & Bravo Americano! They begin brawling all over the place. Bravo gets dropped on the announce desk by Bronko & Rayo gets tossed over it while Daga, Berto & Angel beat up Grande. After Grande gets beat up for a little bit, we hear Dirty Dom’s music! Dominik runs down and chases Los Perros away with a steel chair! Dom tells them that Grande’s business is his business, and he’ll face them with Grande in a tag team match! Dom pulls Grande to his feet and they stand tall against Los Perros as our live event comes to an end. So long for now!
