Anderson Silva Beats Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in Boxing Match by Split Decision

Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva was victorious last night, beating Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. at the Tribute to the Kings event. The card was held at Jalisco Stadium in Guadalajara, Mexico and broadcast live on FITE TV. Prelims were shown on beIN Sports.

Silva turned 46 years old las April. His opponent, Chavez Jr., is 35 and went into the fight with a professional boxing record of 52-6-1 and 1 No Contest. Silva only had two professional boxing fights on his resume, his last being a knockout victory that took place in August 2005, almost 16 years ago.

Silva won the bout on two judges scorecards by 77-75, with one judge scoring the fight for Chavez with 75-77. Anderson Silva parted ways with the UFC last November after losing three fights in a row against Israel Adesanya, Jared Cannonier, and Uriah Hall. The latter two losses came by TKO.
