Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul

Logan Paul managed to last all his scheduled rounds against Floyd Mayweather and avoided a knockout in Sunday’s exhibition fight. Sunday’s heavily-hyped bout saw Paul go the distance against the boxing great, lasting all eight rounds against Mayweather. Still though, Mayweather would have had a clear victory had judges been in attendance.

It had been announced beforehand that the fight would not announce a winner if there was no stoppage before round eight ended, and that’s exactly what happened. According to the New York Times, Mayweather gave Paul some credit in his post-fight comments.

“I had fun,” Mayweather said after the fight. “You’ve got to realize, I’m not 21 anymore but it’s good to move around with these guys … He’s better than I thought he was. As far as with the big guys, the heavyweights? It’s going to be hard. But he’s a tough, rough competitor.”

Paul appeared to fatigue down the stretch, losing what snap he had on his punches to open the contest and pouring sweat as he flicked out jabs that Mayweather was mostly able to easily avoid while the boxing icon picked spots to land scoring blows.

Paul was happy to have gone the distance, saying, “I don’t want anyone to tell me anything is impossible ever again. The fact that I’m in here with one of the greatest boxers of all time proves the odds can be beat … It’s an honor to grace the ring with him, this is the coolest thing ever. I’m glad I made it out. He’s old but he’s tough to hit.”

The fight aired on PPV via Showtime, which suffered outages due to the heavy traffic.
