Thiago Marreta Santos Might Not Stay At Light Heavyweight After UFC 231

In an interview with MMA Junkie, Thiago ‘Marreta’ Santos said he wasn’t sure if he would move to heavyweight or stay at light heavyweight after his fight with Jimi Manuwa tonight at UFC 231. Here are highlights:

On how the fight will go: “I believe things are going to play out on the feet. We’re both knockout artists – both strikers. It’s going to be exciting for the fans. Without a doubt, I see myself winning by KO or TKO.”

On his future: “I need to have this fight with Manuwa first so we can decide if I’ll go back to middleweight or stay at light-heavyweight. I felt great in my last fight. But now I’ll be facing a bigger guy who’s closer to a heavyweight. So this fight will determine what I’ll do in the future.”

On being grateful: “I’m very happy with the way things are going. I’m thankful for my health so I can keep doing my work. I’m very happy to be able to face Jimi Manuwa after our original booking was canceled when he got hurt. So I get another shot at fighting in the light heavyweight division against a top-ranked opponent. I’m also thankful to Jimi Manuwa for accepting to face me.”
