Recently TMZ Sports asked Jon Jones who he would fight next, with Jones mentioning Israel Adesanya. Shortly after that, Jon Jones found himself trading barbs with Isreal Adesanya for several weeks.

As the feud intensified, UFC veteran Brendan Schaub commented on the situation on Joe Rogan’s podcast (h/t MMAWeekly.com), accusing TMZ of instigating the feud. It’s hard to know what Shaub was so upset about since TMZ asked an open-ended question to Jones about who he would like to fight, and Jones mentioned Adesanya, but never the less, Shaub wasn’t happy.

“Stylebender, TMZ asked him, they don’t know s–t about fighting,” Schaub said. “This guy’s big, this guy’s big, they’re both black, let’s fight. They have no idea. That’s what they think.”

On his weekly TMZ show, The Hollywood Beatdown (h/t MMAWeekly.com), fellow MMA vet Tyron Woodley took issue with the insinuation that TMZ was being racial in its questioning of Jones. He spoke with co-host Peter Evans, who had asked the initial question for TMZ to Jones about future opponents. Evans felt that Shaub’s remarks were out of line, while Tyron was even more upset, agreeing that Schaub’s insinuation that the question was racist was out of line, stating, “I’d take it more personal cuz it’s almost saying that you guys at TMZ don’t know anything, you guys are racist. Damn!”
