Conor McGregor’s return to the UFC was a huge success as expected, helping make UFC 246 the first event of its kind to do 1 million streaming buys. Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed during Disney’s Q1 earnings call that the show did 1 million buys through ESPN+ and brought in a host of new subscribers.

Iger said (per a transcript at fool.com), “Looking across our portfolio of direct to consumer businesses, we’re also pleased with the growth of ESPN+. We ended the quarter with 6.6 million paid subscribers and as of Monday, we were at 7.6 million. We’ve been especially happy with a number of partnerships, particularly with the UFC and the recent McGregor-Cerrone fight brought in about 1 million pay-per-view purchases and 0.5 million new subscribers.”

McGregor defeated Donald Cerrone in the first round of their main event bout, his first fight since his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 in October of 2018.
